Susan Shade - Visual Artist

Susan is an artist living in Oakland, CA. She has been working in acrylic and mixed media for many years, and has more recently focused her efforts on creating abstract explorations utilizing a bold palette. She's inspired from her love of textiles; the surfaces, textures, and interaction of colors, and how these can be translated onto canvas. 

Her techniques of layering, scraping, blending, and rebuilding of the surface, are drawn from this inspiration. She loves the gestures, markings, and energy that is created during the painting process, along with the excitement of discovery found in the sometimes unpredictability of her painting techniques.
